Los Angeles, CA

The vision

For this piece I blended my personal painting style with some interactive iconography and imagery that represents the culture of Los Angeles and the patrons of Beverly Center. Since the customer’s of Beverly Center are diverse I wanted to exhibit pieces of LA from the elite Hollywood stars and films that brought LA into the spotlight, to the joy of the simple things like getting ice cream and observing the counter-culture of the skateboard parks in Venice.

My goal was to create a piece that invites the viewer inside to take a part of the work with them in their photos. To not just stand in front of the mural, but to become a part of it.

THE PROCESS

When we began, Beverly Center wasn’t 100% certain on the wall where the piece would live, so I started with a concept pitch that was adaptable.

Once the space was solidified, I developed the design into a more detailed sketch with the elements arranged to fit best on the wall.

We installed the piece over the course of two nights, just in time for Beverly Center’s grand re-opening in November 2018. In January 2019, Beverly Center announced that they would be keeping Angel’s Pulse beyond its initial two month time into the foreseeable future. The mural continues to be a standout piece enjoyed by both patrons and special guests of Beverly Center.
